Board & Secretariat

The Board of the EAAE consists of ten members: a President, a Vice-President, a Secretary-General, a Treasurer, and six additional Board members. The Board is responsible for managing the Association and providing strategic direction.

Board members are appointed for a term of three years. The Secretary-General and the Treasurer may be reappointed, while the six other Board members can serve an additional three-year term. Normally, three of these six Board members retire at the end of each term, and the remaining three are nominated by the Board to serve a second term.

The Vice-President is the President-elect and is automatically nominated by the Board to become President when the current President’s term ends.

Each EAAE Board member is appointed for a term of three years.

The Secretary-General and the Treasurer are eligible for reappointment. The Vice-President is the EAAE President-elect and, when the President retires, he/she will be automatically nominated by the Board for appointment as President for the coming three years. The six other board members are appointed for a term of three years. They can be immediately reappointed for another term of three years only once. Normally three of these six board members retire at the end of each term, while the remaining three are nominated by the Board to serve for another term.

How the Board is elected

Board appointments are based on a binding nomination prepared by the Board following a call for candidates to EAAE members. Members vote on this proposal via electronic ballot, and the General Meeting is asked to confirm the result and elect the new Board.
